One of the most powerful tools for Passive House acceleration is policy. We can see examples of this from around the world, whether it’s in Vancouver, Brussels, or Gaobeidian—Passive House can jump from obscure to omnipresent overnight with the adoption of the right policy moves.

Our Passive House Policy Summit (April 26) will explore the three-legged stool of effective Passive House policy: (1) code progress to raise the floor of building performance, (2) emissions caps to set the limit of building emissions, and (3) incentives to accelerate change. We’ll share both “shining examples” as well scrappy/stealthy examples of success. We also delve into how policymaking can promote a just and equitable transition to Passive House buildings and the health and resilience that they confer.

This summit will focus on policies that impact new construction. We plan to hold a follow-up policy summit to focus on retrofits this fall.
