Standards
There are two separate Passive House certification organizations: Phius and PHI.
- Projects can choose either standard.
- Both standards are eligible for state reimbursements at the project and professional education level.
- Both meet Passive House requirements in the Specialized Opt-In Energy Code.
- Both standards have pathways for new and existing buildings.
- Both can be applied to any building type, whether multifamily, single family, institutional, or commercial.
Project Subsidies
Many projects seeking Passive House certification are eligible for financial support through Mass Save. Contact ICF early in your projects to get started.
- 1-4 Unit Residential: ResNewConstructionMA@icf.com
- $25,000 for single-family homes
- Plus extra $5,000/unit for 2-4 family homes
- 5+ Unit Residential: MultiFHR@icf.com
- $750/unit for pre-certication
- $3,000/unit for final certification
- $5,000 for feasibility study and $500/unit (up to $20,000) for energy modelling
