Affordable Infill at Scale
High-performance sustainable design is entirely doable on an affordable budget, and the team behind the Norwell Street infill project in Dorchester—developed as part of the City’s Welcome Home Boston initiative—is ready to show you how they are pulling it off. This case study explores the development of three small multifamily quadplexes, demonstrating how they maximized City and State subsidy dollars to deliver high-quality, Passive House homeownership. By utilizing an integrated “Architect and Builder as Developer” model, the team leveraged collaborative expertise to control costs and maximize outcomes, such as the up-front purchase and installation of PV solar.
The presentation dives into the details of leveraging offsite panelization to streamline building envelopes and find construction efficiencies. They will share hard cost data and Passive House analysis tools to reveal how they optimized building systems for this twelve-unit development. Join us to see how a creative approach created a scalable, cost-effective blueprint for other missing middle projects.
