SUMMARY:Measuring Residential Ventilation Air Flows
DESCRIPTION:⚡⚡ This is a hybrid in-person and virtual event ⚡⚡ \nAirtight construction is a hallmark of high performance construction\, but requires a comprehensive ventilation system as the foundation of good indoor air quality. Join Dr. Iain Walker\, ASHRAE Fellow and staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory\, for an expert breakdown of how we measure what matters. This session moves beyond the basics to explore the technologies—both simple and sophisticated—for measuring ventilation airflows and summarizes relevant diagnostic standards and test methods\, such as RESNET 380. Drawing on historical background and recent USDOE studies of ventilation systems in new residences\, Dr. Walker will share insights into what works (and what doesn’t)\, what is easy to measure (and what isn’t)\, and the broader implications for the residential construction industry. \n👉 Continuing Ed: pending approval \n📍 For in-person attendees\, join us before the presentation for a happy hour from 5:30-6:00 PM Eastern \n🎤 For virtual attendees\, the presentation starts at 6:00 PM Eastern \n🍷🧀 Refreshments provided \nRegister Here\nThis event is made possible by the Sponsors of Mass Save:

SUMMARY:Ventilation Summit
DESCRIPTION:Every passive building depends on continuous\, balanced ventilation. It’s a critical part of all Passive House standards. But designing\, installing\, and balancing these systems can present challenges\, especially in larger multifamily buildings with complex needs. \nThis workshop is intended to bring together stakeholders from across the Passive House Massachusetts community to have a frank\, technical\, and constructive conversation about resolving issues related to ventilation. Topics of special focus will include Constant Airflow Regulators or Automatic Balancing Dampers and ventilation measurement best practices. \nThis event is still in the planning stages. As we put together our agenda\, feel free to reach out to Alexander Gard-Murray at alexander@phmass.org with any suggestions or questions. \nModerators: \nIain Walker\, PhD is the leader of the Residential Buildings Team at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. He is an ASHRAE Fellow\, deputy department head for Whole Building Systems Department of BIES\, and leader of DOE core National Laboratory IAQ team. He is also leader and developer on standards and technical committees for ASHRAE\, ASTM\, RESNET\, IEC\, the IEA and other national and international organizations\, board member of the IEA Annex 5 Air Infiltration and Ventilation Center\, and a member of the RESNET Standards Management Board. \nAlexander Gard-Murray\, PhD is the Executive Director of Passive House Massachusetts. He was previously Director of the Greenhouse Institute\, and before that he taught and researched energy and environmental policy in the Government Department at Harvard and the Climate Solutions Lab at Brown. \nRegister Here
