SUMMARY:Designing the Future: Lessons from 3 Massachusetts Passive Schools
DESCRIPTION:⚡ This is a hybrid in-person and virtual event ⚡ \nNote: Location TBD\, please check back here closer to the event. \nThe landscape of K-12 design in Massachusetts is shifting toward Passive House. Driven by the updated MA Stretch Code\, a new generation of schools is emerging—schools that aren’t just energy efficient\, but are healthier\, quieter\, and less expensive to operate. \nJoin us for an exploration of three pioneering Massachusetts projects: Squantum School\, Charleswood Elementary\, and Revere High School. We will look at passive building certification for schools through several lenses: Certified Passive House Consultant\, Architect\, and MEP Engineer. From navigating school-appropriate assemblies to balancing the Passive House vs. TEDI pathways\, we’ll discuss the technical solutions and the design insights that are setting the new standard for educational infrastructure. \nOur presentation panel includes: \n\nKate Bubriski (Principal\, Director of Building Performance at Arrowstreet)\, a leader in net-zero design with over 6 million square feet of high-performing buildings\nRyan Dirks (Senior Associate\, Senior Sustainability Specialist at Perkins Eastman)\, a building science specialist and co-author of Passive House Details\nJess Farber (Vice President at CMTA)\, an innovation leader in MEP engineering driving decarbonization across New England\nNicole Peterson (Senior Associate at Thornton Tomasetti)\, a leader in facade optimization and building performance analysis\n\n👉 Continuing Ed: 1 AIA/HSW\, 2 PHI Designer/Tradesperson\, 1 Phius credit available \n📍 For in-person attendees\, join us before the presentation for a happy hour from 5:30-6:00 PM Eastern \n🎤 For virtual attendees\, the presentation starts at 6:00 PM Eastern \n🍷🧀 Refreshments provided \nRegister Here\nThis event is made possible by the Sponsors of Mass Save:
