Building Science for Carpenters
April 25, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join other carpenters, builders, and construction professionals for an evening of networking, presentations, and discussion on building science and construction techniques for high-performance building. Each month, we will have short presentations from guest speakers around a chosen topic and then open discussion among the group. This month will be heading out for a change to the Union Street Bar in Newton for a larger gathering. While most BSfC sessions have been free, this one will have a small cost to cover food at the venue. Please reach out if this presents any hardships. RSVP required.
April Topic: Financial incentives for High-Performance Construction
This month’s gathering will be your best opportunity to learn — in one place — about the full range of opportunities for builders and remodelers in Massachusetts to qualify for financial incentives for high-performance new construction and retrofits. We’ve gathered experts from all the various agencies and organizations who are eager to grant you money in return for upping your game with regard to home performance. You may already know about MassSave weatherization programs, but at this session you’ll also hear about MassSave for New Construction, MassSave for Renovations and Additions, the DOER’s Home MVP program, and MassCEC’s Mass Solar Loan, Solar Hot Water Rebates, and Clean Energy Internship programs to help fund your hiring of college and high school students to clean energy jobs.
Speakers include:
Chris Mazolla, Home Energy Raters
Peter Hubbe, ICF
Beverly Craig, MassCEC
Lawrence Masland, DOER
Building Science for Carpenters is an ongoing series co-sponsored by the Studio for High-Performance Design & Construction (StudioHPDC), the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB), and Passive House Massachusetts (PHMA).
